Directions Via Texting

- To practice and explore the advantages and challenges of communicating via texting.
Procedures
- This activity is an adaptation of the Back-to-Back Communications Exercise.
- Ask members to find a partner. One volunteers to give the directions, the
other to be the drawer.
- Ask them to exchange phone numbers. If face-to-face, the drawers go to another location.
- Provide the direction givers with the following drawing (email it to them if done virtually) and tell to text in words a description of the drawing - sending photos to the drawer are not permitted. The goal is for the drawer to reproduce the drawing to scale.
- At the completion of the activity, comparisons between the two pictures are made.
- Facilitate a discussion about reactions to this activity.
Part 2: If done in a face-to-face environment
If the exercise is being done in a face-to-face settings, this activity is done a second time. Members switch roles. The direction giver is provided with a second picture and communicated to the drawer face-to-face. \
